Waterproofing in short
Tactical Height Solutions repairs external waterproofing on Sydney buildings: balcony edges and hobs, planter boxes, parapets and copings, window and door junctions, façade joints and roof details. Leaks are traced first, then repaired by IRATA-certified rope access technicians without scaffold. Where a new membrane is needed, it is certified by a licensed waterproofer.
Updated October 2026 by Naldo Neto, IRATA Level 3 and licensed painter.
Water finds the weakest point: a cracked balcony hob, a failed joint where a window meets the wall, a parapet capping that has lifted, or a planter box membrane that has given up. Fixing the wrong spot wastes money, so we trace the leak before we repair it.
From the rope we inspect and test the suspect areas, then repair them with the right system: liquid-applied membranes on balcony edges, parapets and planter boxes, sealant and flashing repairs at windows and joints, and protective coatings on exposed concrete. Membranes are applied to the manufacturer's specification and AS 4654.2 where it applies.
Licensing and regulated work
Our NSW contractor licence is in painting (478674C). On apartment buildings, concrete, render, sealant and waterproofing repairs over $5,000 may need a licence class other than painting, and remedial work on class 2 buildings falls under the Design and Building Practitioners Act, which needs an engineer's regulated design and a registered building practitioner. On those jobs we work as the specialist rope access contractor alongside your engineer and remedial builder. On commercial and industrial buildings, and for painting, cleaning and inspection work, we contract with you directly. We'll tell you at the inspection which applies to your building.

Questions about waterproofing
Can you waterproof a balcony without lifting the tiles?
Sometimes. Leaks at edges, hobs and junctions can often be repaired without lifting tiles, but a failed membrane under the tiles usually means stripping and re-waterproofing. We will tell you which after testing.
Do I need a licensed waterproofer?
For a new membrane on a residential building, yes, and ours are certified by a licensed waterproofer. Sealant and joint repairs usually are not licensed work. We tell you at the inspection which applies.
How do you find where a leak is coming from?
We inspect inside and outside, check joints, flashings and membranes from the rope, and use water testing to confirm the entry point before quoting a repair.
Is waterproofing covered by a warranty?
Yes. Repairs come with a written workmanship warranty, and membrane products carry their manufacturer's warranty when applied to specification.
