Static line systems in short

Tactical Height Solutions provides static line systems for buildings in Sydney using IRATA-certified rope access technicians instead of scaffolding. Static lines, horizontal lifelines and anchor layouts installed, tested and certified, so maintenance crews can move safely across your roof. Every job is supervised by an IRATA Level 3 technician, carried out under NSW contractor licence 478674C, and covered by $20 million public liability insurance. Site inspections in Sydney are free, enquiries get a reply the same day, and most jobs can start within 48 hours of an approved quote.

Updated October 2026 by Naldo Neto, IRATA Level 3 and licensed painter.

Single anchors suit rope access drops. People who need to move along a roof edge, such as gutter cleaners, roof plumbers and air-conditioning or solar technicians, need a static line so they stay attached the whole way.

We assess the roof, lay out the system around how the roof is actually used, and install static lines, anchors and hardware to the manufacturer's instructions and AS/NZS 1891.2. Every system is tested, tagged and documented with a roof plan, then goes on an annual inspection cycle to AS/NZS 1891.4.

Because our crew uses height safety systems every day, we notice what makes a system awkward or unsafe in practice: anchors in the wrong place, lines that stop short of the gutter, or no safe way onto the roof.

Questions about static line systems

What is a static line?

A horizontal cable or rail fixed along a roof that a worker clips onto with a harness, so they stay attached while moving along the roof edge.

Do we need a static line or just anchors?

Anchors suit rope access and work at fixed points. If people need to move along an edge, for example to clean gutters, a static line is usually safer and quicker to use.

How often must static lines be inspected?

Under AS/NZS 1891.4, height safety systems should be inspected at least every 12 months, and after any fall or damage.

Can you inspect a system someone else installed?

Yes. We inspect and certify existing systems, and tag out and quote anything that fails.
