Heritage façade maintenance in short
Tactical Height Solutions provides heritage façade maintenance for buildings in Sydney using IRATA-certified rope access technicians instead of scaffolding. Inspection, cleaning, sealing and painting on older and heritage buildings, without scaffold ties drilled into historic fabric. Every job is supervised by an IRATA Level 3 technician, carried out under NSW contractor licence 478674C, and covered by $20 million public liability insurance. Site inspections in Sydney are free, enquiries get a reply the same day, and most jobs can start within 48 hours of an approved quote.
Updated October 2026 by Naldo Neto, IRATA Level 3 and licensed painter.
Older buildings need a lighter touch. Scaffold ties drilled into brick or sandstone leave holes in historic fabric, and aggressive cleaning or the wrong coating can do more harm than the weather.
Rope access reaches every part of a heritage façade from the roof, with nothing fixed to the wall. We inspect and photograph condition, carry out gentle cleaning, replace failed sealant and paint with systems suited to older substrates, and keep a record of everything for the owner, heritage adviser or council.
Where repairs need a heritage specialist, such as a stonemason, we provide safe access and work alongside them.

Questions about heritage façade maintenance
Do we need council approval for heritage work?
It depends on the listing and the work. Maintenance such as cleaning and repainting in matching colours is often treated differently from changes to the building. Check with your council or heritage adviser; we can supply photos and method details for an application.
Will rope access damage the façade?
Ropes are rigged from the roof and protected at edges, and nothing is drilled into the wall for access.
Can you clean sandstone?
We use gentle methods suited to the material and test a small area first. Where specialist stone cleaning is needed, we provide access for a stone specialist.
Do you work with heritage architects?
Yes. We work to their specification and provide the photo records they need.
