Roof access systems in short
Tactical Height Solutions plans, installs and inspects roof access systems on Sydney strata, commercial and industrial buildings: roof walkways, guardrails, access platforms, hatch protection, fixed ladders, anchors and static lines. Systems follow AS 1657, AS/NZS 1891.4 and AS/NZS 5532, are recorded on one roof plan with photos, and are added to the annual height safety inspection so certification never lapses.

Every trade that goes onto a roof needs a safe way to get there and to move around: air-conditioning technicians, plumbers, solar installers, window cleaners and painters. A roof access system covers the whole route, from the hatch or ladder to the plant, the gutters and the edge.
We look at how your roof is used and who uses it, then plan the right mix: walkways over sloping or fragile roofing, guardrails around plant and open edges, platforms where equipment is serviced, and anchors and static lines where people must work near the edge. Everything is installed to the manufacturer's instructions, recorded on one roof plan and added to your annual inspection.
One plan also fixes a common problem: different contractors adding bits over the years until nobody is sure what is certified and what is not.

Questions about roof access systems
What is the difference between edge protection and fall arrest?
Edge protection, such as a guardrail, stops a person reaching the edge. Fall arrest, such as an anchor and harness, stops a fall once it has started. Where practical, guardrails and walkways come first.
Do we need walkways on a metal roof?
Walkways protect people from slipping on sloping or wet sheeting and protect the roof from damage. They are worth having wherever people regularly cross the same route, such as to air-conditioning units.
Can you take over a roof another contractor set up?
Yes. We audit what is there, tag what passes, quote to fix or replace what does not, and put everything on one roof plan.
Will the work disturb people in the building?
Very little. Most roof work happens above occupied floors without affecting them, and drilling or noisy work can be scheduled to suit.
