Brick façade repainted on rope on a residential tower in Randwick
A tall brick elevation on a Randwick residential tower, prepared and repainted from the rope, with no scaffold against the building.
Project overview
The side elevation of a residential tower in Randwick had a patchy, uneven finish across its brickwork. We prepared and repainted the full elevation from the rope, working down in drops until the wall had one even finish from the top of the building to the ground.
Scope of works
- Rope access set-up from the roof anchors
- Preparation of the brick elevation for painting
- Repaint of the full elevation, drop by drop
- Before, during and after photos
Access method
Technicians worked separate drops at the same time, each on two ropes from certified roof anchors, under IRATA Level 3 supervision.
Challenges
The elevation is a tall, unbroken brick wall beside the building's balconies, rising straight up from the neighbouring property. Scaffold would have meant weeks of set-up against the wall; on rope, the crew could reach every part of it from the roof.
Outcome
The elevation now has a single, even finish from top to bottom, completed with no scaffold on the building.
